If you have ever wanted to write a letter to someone but never did—because you didn’t dare, didn’t know how, couldn’t, or couldn’t bring yourself to finish—tell me about it, and I will write it for you.

David Geselson

Until May, in collaboration with the Maison de la littérature, authors Anne-Marie Olivier and Carolanne Foucher will lend their pens to the citizens of Quebec City to write their unwritten letters. These will join hundreds of voices from Paris, Brussels, and even New York, where David Geselson and the French company Lieux-Dits have led similar processes.

The writing workshop precedes (but is not necessarily linked to) the performance of Lettres non-écrites by Compagnie Lieux Dits, which will be presented as part of the Festival Carrefour in spring 2026. This show is a combination of over 400 letters and countless hours of guided writing by anonymous participants from all over the world. An intimate and collective project, it connects us all to one another—one letter at a time.

Please note : the letters written will not automatically be included in the performance and will only be used if the participant gives their explicit consent.

If the event is sold out, you can contact the reception at (418) 641-6797, ext. 3, to add your name to the waiting list.

The appointments

Your appointment begins with an intimate 35-minute meeting with authors Anne-Marie Olivier or Carolanne Foucher, during which you will have the opportunity to express what you wish to have written.

Next, there is a 45-minute period during which the author will write your letter in your absence. This is a perfect time to explore the beautiful spaces of the Maison de la littérature.

Finally, you will return for 10 minutes of reading, editing, and approval.

At the end of your appointment, you can choose to take your letter with you, in either paper or digital format, leave it behind, or even request its permanent deletion. You may also agree for it to be used anonymously as part of the performance Lettres non-écrites, which will be presented in spring 2026 as part of the Festival Carrefour.

Additional writing sessions will be organized monthly leading up to the performance.
