Meet and greet with Gurshad Shaheman

Conversation with Gurshad Shaheman, playwright and director of the play Les Forteresses, presented on June 6,7 and 8 at the Le Diamant Theatre. Moderated by Maxime Robin.

Three women, born in Iran in the early 1960s, three university students who were suddenly in the midst of the islamic revolution of 1979, three testimonies of resilience and hope. Gurshad Shaheman honors his mother and his two aunts in a journey through 50 years of history, pain and joys. Mixing familial testimonies and a portrait of Iranian politics, the author welcomes the audience on the stage, right next to the performers and the actual members of his family. While sipping hot tea, we are invited into this snippet of culture, a determining part of the Middle East’s history and mostly, a rare access to the voice of these women, too often repressed.
