With her upcoming wedding, an English princess mandates the high fashion designer house Béliana for the creation of her wedding dress. With the expertise of an embroidery workshop in Mumbai and the famous Alençon lace manufacture, over 30 artisans are working on this extraordinary work of art with the utmost secrecy. Using cinematic codes, Caroline Guiela Nguyen unveils societal stakes and the human complexity hidden under the beauty, luxury and extravaganza of high fashion. After a great success in Avignon and a European and Asian tour, LACRIMA knits an ensemble piece with sensitivity and tragedy.

On voyage d’une ville à une autre. On regarde des femmes et des hommes travailler, communiquer, à travers des écrans ou au sein d’un atelier de haute couture. Tout cela pourrait paraître parfois un peu descriptif, si une profondeur humaine n’imprégnait cet univers théâtral. Une profondeur et une vérité.
