How do you question your masculinity and the limits of patriarchy in a society where being in touch with your emotions is taboo? Julie Berès directs 8 young men from different social classes, religions, and even artistic backgrounds. With humour and joy, they question themselves, go toe to toe and open themselves to each other in a long informal and fluid conversation, peppered with dances and musical interludes. The French compagny Les Cambrioleurs dives into this essential topic with audacity and sensitivity. La Tendresse is not about activism, it is a question, thrown out there to the audience with tenderness.
WHAT WE LOVED ABOUT IT
How can we resist those 8 young men, so different from one another, who claim with fury the right to embrace their own masculinity in their singularity? The sole fact that this play was directed by a woman highlights the urgency of such a claim. We are very happy to present this necessary show which will, hopefully, give you hope in humanity.
